Abstract

[EN] In the Central sector of the Subbetic, there are a belt of structures, folds and thrust faults, with a NE-SW to N-S orientation and another one, with lesser importance, with a NW-SE to N-S strike. These directions are clearly oblique to the ENE-WSW trend, the more common for these type of structures in the Subbetic. These belts were formed from the Middle to the Late Miocene within a compressional field which direction changed from WNW-ESE to NW-SE and NNW-SSE. In the same context was formed, during the Late Miocene, the Prebetic arc of Cazorla, bounded to the southwest by the Tiscar fault, a transfer fault, facilitating the west/northwestwards displacement of its southwest side, formed mainly by Subbetic units. These Subbetic oblique structures are situated between the Gibraltar and the Cazorla arcs and, although are much lesser important, were formed within the same scheme of progressive deformations occurred in the Betic Cordillera from the Late Burdigalian.
