Abstract

Locos, enfermos y marginados. Durante siglos se ha tratado a los locos como criminales a los que se tenía que recluir y apartar de la sociedad. Se creía que los enfermos mentales son consecuencia de una alteración o un error de la naturaleza y es así hasta la aparición del médico Philippe Pinel, quien libera de cadenas a los enfermos psiquiátricos desde su puesto en la dirección de los grandes hospitales creados por Luis XIV Años más tarde, siglos en algunos casos, la asistencia a los enfermos psiquiátricos iría evolucionando hasta lo que conocemos hoy día.
