[EN] This work consists in the study of 43 homegardens situated in the high river Ter valley and eight homegardens belonging to the rest of the Catalan Pyrenees. Several informative parameters have been studied in order to evaluate the biodiversity and to investigate the organization of these agroecosystems by means of open interviews with their owners. Our results show a considerable decrease in the number of the cultivated species but also state that nowadays the homegardens play a major role in the mountain areas. The presence of food, medicinal and ornamental species, cultivated and wild, makes the homegardens an important natural and ethnological heritage.
