Diseño y construcción de un fotómetro fotoeléctrico para la observación de ocultaciones de estrellas por la Luna

Abstract

La desaparición instantánea de una estrella detrás del limbo lunar se llama ocultación. La medida precisa del instante de ocultación permite establecer correcciones al tiempo de efemérides, a los elementos orbitales de la teoría de la Luna, a las posiciones de estrellas, al equinocio, ecuador y oblicuidad y a la figura de la Tierra. La curva de luz obtenida en la desaparición de una estrella se aplica a la determinación de diámetros estelares, al descubrimiento y medida de estrellas dobles y a la investigación de la estructura del limbo lunar. Considerando la importancia de este tipo de observaciones se pensó en la posibilidad de construir un sistema fotoeléctrico, ya que con esta técnica se obtienen medidas de mucha mayor precisión y libres de errores personales, al tiempo que el error observacional es mínimo comparado con la incertidumbre de las efemérides lunares, posiciones de estrellas, correcciones de limbo, etc.
