Regulación de la respuesta inflamatoria de las células fagocíticas por lípidos: papel del ácido araquidónico y de los isómeros del ácido palmitoleico

Abstract

Dado el gran interés generado por los recientes avances científicos acerca de la relación existente entre la acumulación de gotas lipídicas de monocitos circulantes y la aterosclerosis, y dada la posible implicación del ácido araquidónico como uno de los factores clave en la formación de estos monocitos humanos espumosos, el objetivo principal de esta tesis es el estudio del contenido del ácido araquidónico en monocitos humanos espumosos y el metabolismo de éste en condiciones de activación celular. De forma más específica se pretende describir la distribución de ácido araquidónico en diferentes clases de lípidos en monocitos humanos espumosos; elucidar si la actividad biológica descrita del ácido araquidónico es verdaderamente producida por dicha molécula o en cambio, lo es por los derivados oxidados de éste generados espontáneamente; así como examinar la movilización y liberación de ácido araquidónico de las diferentes clases de lípidos en monocitos humanos espumosos en respuesta a un estímulo inflamatorio.
