[EN] S Vel is found to be a semi-detached close binary system of low mass. In this paper, a new analysis of the UBV photoelectric observations from Sisteró (1971) is presented and a new determination of the absolute elements of the system is made using only photometric criteria. Moreover a model and an evolutionary track have been constructed according to the more recent theories on the structure of close binary systems which allowed us to explain those peculiarities detected in S Vel.
