Caracterización de la transición estructural entre unidades metamórficas y no metamórficas en el Paleozoico del Noroeste de Andorra, parte central de la Zona Axial pirenaica

Abstract

El análisis estructural ha permitido reconocer tres eventos principales de deformación varisca (D1, D2 y D3) en la sucesión paleozoica que aflora en el noroeste de Andorra. En las unidades metamórficas estudiadas predominan pliegues de dirección E-O, tumbados y/o vergentes al norte (D1) con una foliación asociada subhorizontal (S1). Las unidades no metamórficas están caracterizadas por pliegues de dirección E-O, derechos o vergentes al sur (D2) con una foliación de plano axial asociada S2 y cabalgamientos de dirección E-O dirigidos hacia el sur, enraizados, unos en la base del Silúrico y otros, fuera de secuencia, en niveles más profundos, dentro de la sucesión pre-Caradoc. Además, en las zonas de contacto con los domos gnéisicos de Astón y de L’Hospitalet se observan estructuras de cizalla tardivariscas (D3). Se observa que existe una relación genética entre los pliegues D2 y algunas de las fallas y cabalgamientos más importantes de la zona que afectan a la sucesión pre-Caradoc, como por ejemplo la falla de Merens, cuyo nivel de despegue se situaría dentro o por debajo de esta. La existencia de dos niveles de despegue para los cabalgamientos de la segunda generación de estructuras produce una transición gradual desde zonas profundas con predominio de estructuras subhorizontales, a zonas superficiales donde existe un buen desarrollo de estructuras subverticales.
