[EN] This paper presents a division of eighteenth-century travel literature in prescriptive travel texts, fictional travel narratives and travelogues, emphasizing their importance in the Age of Enlightenment. Special emphasis will be given to travel narratives as a genre with a strong tradition in the history of literature, which captures its own characteristics within the socio-cultural paradigm of the Enlightenment.
[ES] Se propone una división de la literatura de viajes del siglo XVIII en preceptivas sobre viajes, viajes ficcionales y relatos de viaje, que subrayan su importancia en la época de la Ilustración. Se enfatiza la presencia de los relatos de viaje como un género con una tradición arraigada en la literatura previa que asume unas características propias dentro del paradigma sociocultural del Siglo de las Luces.
