The relationship existing between Luis de Estrada and Arias Montano —two relevant personalities of the Spanish XVIth Century— is analysed for the first time throughout an almost unknown document: Estrada's letter to Arias Montano on the so-called «Biblia Regia». Thanks to this document the authors have been able to outline the main problems which arose in Spain as a result of the edition of this Polyglot Bible, as well as the theological atmosphere in which biblical studies of the second half of the XVIth Century developed.
