Estrategias y actuaciones para la divulgación del patrimonio geológico y fomentar el geoturismo en la red española de Parques Nacionales

Abstract

En los cien años de historia de los parques nacionales españoles han sido muy escasas las actuaciones para la divulgación de sus valores geológicos. Esta situación cambia a partir del año 2006 cuando se inicia la edición de una colección de Guías Geológicas de Parques Nacionales con el fin de dar a conocer su rico y variado patrimonio geológico, aprovechando el foco de atracción que representan estos espacios naturales protegidos, para las10 millones de personas que los visitan cada año. En estas guías se considera a los parques nacionales como laboratorios geológicos naturales, en los que es posible visualizar tanto los procesos geológicos activos como aquellos que sucedieron en el pasado y han dejado su impronta y su registro. También se hace énfasis en que este patrimonio esta “protegido para todos”, mediante la figura de parque nacional. Con esta iniciativa se pretende convertir a simples turistas amantes de la naturaleza en ¨geoturistas, de forma que después de la visita a cada parque valoren y entiendan la importancia de los procesos geológicos en la vida cotidiana y aprendan a observar al Planeta Tierra como un planeta vivo y en contaste cambio. Con el fin de difundir mejor las guías geológicas, se ha construido un sitio web en el que se pueden visualizar sus contenidos: http://www.igme.es/LibrosE/GuiasGeo/libros.htm. Este sitio web ha tenido una extraordinaria acogida con más de 250.000 visitas por año, de las cuales un 30% proceden de fuera de España.
