Abstract

Una forma eficiente de afrontar la planificación y control de la restauración de la minería a cielo abierto es a través de la utilización de la información suministrada por imágenes satelitales en sistemas de información geográfica como base para sistemas de soporte a la decisión de los gestores de la ordenación del territorio. Se presentan los resultados obtenidos en el caso de la mina de lignito de As Pontes en el NE de España, en la que se han desarrollado y verificado estas metodologías para la planificación y control de la restauración minera de zonas afectadas por minería a cielo abierto. Tales metodologías redundan en una gestión más eficiente de la restauración, así como en una reducción significativa de los costes de su planificación y control.
