Abstract

[EN] The combination of Crop water requirements models with models that simulate the variability of the water applied in sprinkler irrigation, allows simulating irrigation scheduling on local scale. This work presents the field test of a prototype of sprinkler irrigation scheduler. The prototype has two parts, one in the field and another one in a remote computer. The remote computer computes the crop irrigation requirements and schedules the irrigation. In the field module the orders of opening and closing the irrigation valves are received and executed, also local meteorological variables are measured periodically and transmitted to the remote computer. The local weather data participates in the tasks of irrigation scheduling and the technical information supports the supervision and control of the prototype. The prototype schedules three irrigation treatments of a maize crop during the 2009 irrigation season, two automatic: advanced (T2) and intermedium (T1); and another manual (T0). The results indicate that the T0 was the most irrigated, followed by the T1 and by the T2. No one of the analyzed yield parameters presented significant differences between treatments. The automatics irrigation scheduling gave similar maize yield than the manual irrigation scheduling but with a smaller amount of applied water (14%-18%).
