This brief commentary summarises the main lines of work carried out in Spain about Humboldtian research. It begins with a description of the impact that Alexander von Humboldt and his studies had in the Spanish newspapers at the time. It is followed by an analysis of the different translations to Spanish of Humboldt's work during the XIX and XX centuries, and by a review of the main specialised articles dedicated to the visit of Humboldt in Spain and to the celebrations in his memory 200 years after his expedition, including the most recent ones. Lastly, a brief discussion about future lines of research about Humboldt will be included.
