[ES] Se recopilan y actualizan datos acerca de la caída de un meteorito pétreo en la ciudad de Oviedo (Asturias, España) el 5 de agosto de 1856. Se describen las circunstancias de su caída, así como el material recogido y la distribución actual de las piezas catalogadas que se conservan en el Museo Nacional de Ciencias Naturales (Madrid) y en el Museo Nacional de Historia Natural (París). Asimismo se resumen las principales características físicas, químicas, mineralógicas y texturales de este meteorito condrita, de tipo H5, correspondiente a una brecha de regolito; y se discute su clasificación.
[EN] Data about the fall of a stony meteorite in the city of Oviedo (Asturias, Spain) in 5th August 1856, are compiled and updated. The circumstances of the fall, as well as the material collected and the present distribution of the catalogued pieces that are conserved in the Museo Nacional de Ciencias Naturales (Madrid) and the Musée National d'Histoire Naturelle (Paris), are described. Likewise, the main physical, chemical, mineralogical and textural characteristics of this meteorite chondrite, type H5, corresponding to a breccia regolith are summed up; and its classification discussed.
