Abstract

[EN] The effect of 7 lactic-acid bacteria (Carnobacterium piscicola, Lactobacillus brevis, L. casei ssp. casei, L. helveticus, Lactococcus lactis spp lactis, Leuconostoc mesenteroides spp mesenteroides y Pediococcus acidilactici) on the growth of the microalgae Isochrysis galbana has been studied. Cultures were assayed in 250 ml and 5 L volumes, with or without nutrients addition. All the bacteria strains enhanced growth of the microalgae, especially L. mesenteroides spp mesenteroides y P. acidilactici. The culture improvement was probably caused by an enhancement of the nutritional quality of the medium. Kinetic models were applied to the observed data and several parameters with biological significance were obtained. These parameters can be valuable for the use of the bacteria strains in the culture of I. galbana
