Abstract

En el contexto de la conflictividad en el Mediterráneo, se estudian algunos incidentes protagonizados por un corsario valenciano, Rodrigo Díez, hijo de otro Rodrigo Díez, doctor en leyes, vicecanceller, gobernador general y después baile general del reino de Valencia. Se estudia en particular el robo por Rodrigo Díez de una nave fletada por catalanes que llevaba trigo de Flandes para el abastecimiento de Mallorca en 1395; nave en la que había sido admitido como pasajero, cuando se encontraba en dificultades en Portugal. También el robo de la nave "San Cristóbal" del rey de Portugal y otras naves con las que llegó a reunir una flotilla de cuatro naves con las que se dedicó al corso en aguas portuguesas durante algo más de un año.
