Abstract

[EN] It is fundamental for phytoplankton production in bivalve cultivation centres to be used as live feed in broodstock, larval and post-larval stages. Nevertheless, phytoplankton cultivation is an expensive and laborious undertaking. Thus, the aim of this study is to investigate which of the three microalgae species usually used in hatchery facilities (Isochrysis galbana, Chaetoceros muelleri and Pavlova lutheri) at CIMA (Centro de Investigaciones Marinas) in Ribadeo, is susceptible to elimination from the diet of the Venerupis pullastra from early larval stages up to 30 days cultivation. To this end, a larvae cultivation experiment for this species was carried out in cultivation tanks of 50 litres. 9 diets were tested with one replica each, and different proportions of the three microalgae species were used
