Formada dentro de los círculos institucionistas y miembro de una de las familias más relevantes de la España de comienzos del XX, Alma Tapia participó de la escena artística de entonces como ilustradora, cartelista y miembro del Lyceum Club Femenino. Tras la Guerra Civil y la victoria del general Franco, sus convicciones políticas la llevaron al exilio mexicano donde continuó trabajando en el mundo editorial. Fue una artista que, a través de su trabajo, contribuyó a difundir el vasto y valioso legado cultural de la España del primer tercio del siglo XX.
