One single lysosomal proteinase has been found in the dormant gastrulae of Artemia. The enzyme has been purified to homogeneity and characterized. It is a thiol, cathepsin‐B‐like proteinase with an apparent molecular weight of 68000 and is composed of a single polypeptide chain. The proteinase is a glycoprotein, a characteristic feature of lysosomal enzymes.
