Efectos de la irradiación láser en pigmentos artísticos por técnicas de ablación láser y análisis espectroscópico y de espectrometría de masas

Abstract

Se presentan resultados de la investigación sobre los mecanismos responsables de los efectos de decoloración y alteración de pigmentos causados por la exposición a la radiación durante el proceso de limpieza láser. Utilizando métodos de espectroscopía óptica de emisión (OES, optical emision spectroscopy) y fluorescencia inducida por láser (LIF, laser induced fluorescence) y de espectrometría de masas por tiempo de vuelo (TOF- MS, time of flight mass spectrometry), se ha estudiado la pluma de ablación, que resulta de la irradiación láser de pigmentos en forma de pellets y en muestras de pintura a la témpera. Se seleccionó para este estudio un conjunto de pigmentos artísticos tradicionales orgánicos e inorgánicos, incluyendo blanco de plomo, azurita, amarillo de cromo, blanco de zinc y curcumina, que fueron sometidos a irradiación a varias longitudes de onda en la región ultravioleta (193, 248, 266 y 308 nm). Las diferencias que se observan en la pluma de ablación de compuestos orgánicos e inorgánicos, y en ausencia o presencia del medio aglutinante, permiten discutir los mecanismos de la interacción con el láser y la participación relativa de mecanismos de tipo fototérmico y fotoquímico.
