Abstract

Desde 1992 se han producido en la Península Ibérica varias series sísmicas. En este trabajo, hemos estudiado la deformación debida a tres terremotos de magnitudes moderadas (Mw<5.3) en las Cordilleras Béticas usando interferometría por satélite: Pedro Muñoz (Ciudad Real, Agosto 2007), Mula (Murcia, Febrero 1999) y Adra (Almería, Diciembre 1993). Para cada evento, calculamos todos los interferogramas diferenciales co-sísmicos utilizando imágenes radar de apertura sintética (SAR) y eliminando posibles errores orbitales. Los interferogramas fueron combinados de forma apropiada para aumentar la relación señal ruido usando la técnica de stacking". Con este método se refuerzan las componentes de fase comunes y reducen las debidas a efectos aleatorios. En el caso del terremoto de Adra los interferogramas se corrigieron por fenómenos de estratificación atmosférica. Los interferogramas diferenciales corregidos muestran una señal no correlacionada con la topografía en la cuenca de Bejar.

Since 1992 several seismic series have been shocked the Iberian Peninsula. In this work, we study the deformation due to three moderate magnitude earthquakes (Mw<5.3) located in the Betics cordillera, using satellite radar interferometry: Pedro Muñoz (Ciudad Real, Agosto 2007), Mula (Murcia, Febrero 1999) y Adra (Almería, Diciembre 1993). For each event, we have calculated all possible co-seismic differential inteferograms using archived synthetic aperture radar (SAR) images and removing residual orbital errors. In order to increase the signal-to-noise ratio we have appropriately conmbined the resulting interferograms using a stacking method (enhacing common phase components and reducing random components). Interferograms of Adra earthquake seems to be dominated by atmospheric stratification signals; we proposed a method to reduce these effects. Corrected displacements maps show significant subsidence in the Bejar basin.
