The purpose of this work is to analyze with more depth the caracteristics of the idea that in the Spanish psychiatry an approach existed to the etiologu and therefore, to the therapy of the mental alterations, based on the consideration that those alterations had, in almost absolute way, a biological base. In great measure this opinion seems to be based, fundamentally, in the shortage of the use of psychotherapic and psychoanalytical treatments, and it is usually explained by the dependence of our specialist of a strong histological and histopathological school. I believe that, even if it was that general or majority form is interesting to know if that shortage of therapeutic of psychological type only depends on that histoneuropathologic influence, and if contradiction exists between both aspects. On the order hand, it would be also interesting to characterize the positions of the most significant psychiatrists on the origins of the mental illnes and their opinions about the treatment possibilities. Along the XX Century the Spanish psychistrists had contact with all type of currents of their speciality and it would be necessary to determine if there was a clear election of positions and on what elements it was based
