Abstract

La excepcional fuerza del enlace covalente C-C en los nanotubos de carbono produce una altísima relación fuerza/masa que hace de ellos el material más fuerte y más flexible que se conoce lo que ha despertado un enorme interes para aplicaciones en reforzamiento estructural de polimeros Sin embargo, la dispersión adecuada do los CNTs en el seno do una matriz polimérica y la adhesión de los mismos a la matriz impide la transferencia adecuada de sus propiedades. La reciente expansión y disponibilidad de métodos químicos de modificación y funcionalilzación de CNTs han hecho posible una integración más racional en materiales compuestos. En el presente trabajo se abordan distintas funcionalizaciones covalentes y no covalenles de nanotubos de carbono de capa unica. SWCNTs, para su integración racional en matrices epoxi. La funcionalización covalante permite la preparación de SWCNTs aminados que son reactivos con el precursor y que dan lugar a una fuerte interacción covalonte con la matriz. Se presentan cuatro rutas diferentes de aminación con distinto grado de funcionalización. La funcionalización no covalente se ha abordado utilizando copolimeros de bloque, conteniendo un bloque comun de polietilenoxido, de alta miscibilidad en epoxis, y un bloque menos miscible (polipropilenóxldo o polietileno) que presenta mas afinidad por los CNTs.
