Abstract

[EN] This article intends to underline a political and religious fact, apparently marginal, that took place during the Hispanic federation with Venice and the Holy League from 1571 to 1573. There was an approximation of the orthodox Greeks toward the Catholics in arder to find sorne help in their Ottoman liberation struggle, which supposed to comply one of the Pius V's objectives. A similar situation had happened a hundred years befare during the pontificate of Eugene IV, the union of the Latin Church with the various eastern Churches. The opposition to be united will be not so much in the Greeks nor the Pope but in the intransigent Philip 11. We will mainly use documents from the General Archive of Simancas.
