Abstract

Analiza el enfrentamiento entre el abad de Ripoll, abadía que había creado el monasterio de Montserrat y de la que éste dependía todavía a comienzos del s. XIV, y el prior Esquerrer, nombrado directamente por la Santa Sede. Ambos se esforzaban para conseguir el control del monasterio, ambicionado por los altos ingresos que suponía el santuario, tanto por las limosnas de los peregrinos que lo visitaban como por los legados testamentarios de los devotos.
