Estructura del sur de Taiwán a partir del estudio de campos potenciales

Abstract

El orógeno de Taiwán es una cordillera activa que ha estado formándose desde el Mioceno Superior como resultado de la colisión entre la placa Filipina y la placa Euroasiática. En este contexto, la placa Euroasiática subduce a la Filipina, causando una colisión oblicua entre el arco volcánico de Luzón, con dirección N-S, y el margen continental Euroasiático. Dada la oblicuidad de esta colisión, algunas estructuras heredadas del margen continental se disponen con una orientación casi perpendicular al trazado estructural del cinturón de pliegues y cabalgamientos en Taiwán (CPC). Entre ellas, predominan las fallas sub-verticales cuya reactivación actual está activamente involucrada con la evolución de la estructura, sismicidad y topografía de Taiwán, causando estructuras transversales en el CPC. En este trabajo, se propone definir la estructura en profundidad del SW de Taiwán, así como la localización y geometría de estas fallas heredadas mediante técnicas analíticas y modelización de datos de gravedad y magnetismo. La aplicación de técnicas analíticas, como las derivadas horizontales o el cálculo del espectro radial de amplitudes, ofrecen datos de interés que ayudan a identificar la geometría y situación de las estructuras en el margen y en Taiwán. La modelización directa de datos de gravedad y magnetismo proporciona un enfoque cuantitativo con mayor precisión en profundidad, ya que aportan información de valor acerca de la geometría del techo del basamento. La integración de los resultados con datos estructurales y sísmicos ayuda a definir la estructura cortical y mejorar nuestra comprensión del margen continental del sur de Taiwán y Eurasia.
