Sampling far dating coastal units and quantifying processes is only possible and rewarding after detailed mapping and morphosedimentary analysis. The study of Last and Present lnterglacial deposits in the Iberian Península reveals that there are short-term sea-level oscillations superimposed to longerterm periodicities. Although short-lerm periodicities, as those observed in spit-bar units, are vital far coastal management, longer-term changes should not be discarded.
