Abstract

La aplicación de los SIG (Sistemas de Información Geográfica) en el conocimiento histórico es un campo relativamente novedoso. En el Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Científicas (CSIC) se lidera el proyecto internacional DynCoopNet (Dynamic Complexity of Cooperation-Based Self-Organizing Commercial Networks in the First Global Age) de la EFS (European Science Fundation); en él se está elaborando un SIG espacio-temporal sobre redes de cooperación en las rutas de la Monarquía Hispánica en la primera Edad Global (1400-1800). El objetivo último de esta iniciativa es crear una Infraestructura de Datos Espaciales con la información del proyecto, una nueva faceta de aplicación en el mundo de las IDEs.

Las Infraestructuras de Datos Espaciales (IDE) permiten integrar a través de Internet, datos, metadatos, servicios e información georreferenciada que se produce en diversos campos científicos y técnicos, facilitando a todos los usuarios Web, la localización, identificación, selección y acceso a dicha información geoespacial.
