Abstract

[EN] Three channel-levee complexes comprise the present.-day morphology of he eastern side of the Magdalena turbidite system (Caribbean Sea). These complexes, that extend from the upper to atl east the lower continental slope (> 3700 m water depth) have migrated westward, and this migration could be related to changes in the submarine point sources. Several sedimentary processes have been defined in the channel-levee complexes: bifurcation, oxbows development, and crevasse splays occured during the formation and development of the channel-levee systems, whereas break of levees, loss of channel-levee continuity, and reworking of channel-levee systems occur today, favouring the destruction of the complexes
