Abstract

[EN] The tomb of Djehutynefer, ‘royal scribe’, ‘overseer of the Treasury’, and ‘chief lector in the Good House’ during the reign of Thutmose III, was identified by Champollion in 1829, but its actual location was lost in the overcrowded Dra Abu el-Naga necropolis. Apart from the work of the French Egyptologist, mentions to this tomb can only be found in Rosellini, who moved the doorjambs and the lintel of this tomb to the Museum of Florence, and in Lise Manniche’s Lost Tombs (1988). The tomb was rediscovered in 2015 during the fourteenth campaign of the Spanish Mission at TT 11-TT 12. Djehutynefer was, presumably, the successor of Djehuty (owner of TT 11) in the position of ‘overseer of the Treasury’. It is noteworthy that the owner of this rediscovered tomb and that of TT11 shared the name, post and also had their tombs built in the same part of Dra Abu el-Naga. The rediscovery of the tomb, as well as the parallel lives of these two nobles, have established the principal motivation to carry out a thorough study on Djehutynefer.
