The UN Sustainable Development Goals(SDGs) are a call to action to tackle the world’sgreatest challenges. The key question is howto achieve the SDGs when there are large datagaps or the data are not comprehensiveenough to make timely decisions to enhancepeople’s wellbeing. This session willdemonstrate the value of citizen science forthe SDGs including examples of how citizenscience currently contributes to SDGmonitoring as well as where it has thepotential to contribute. Recommendations forhow citizen science data can be integratedinto the official statistics used for SDGreporting will be provided
