A taxonomic study of the Colombian species of the genus Pereskia (Pereskioideae, Cactaceae) is presented based on analysis vegetative and reproductive attributes of the specimens deposited in Colombian and some foreign herbaria mainly. In Colombia, the genus Pereskia has three species: P. aculeata, P. bleo, and P. guamacho. A dichotomous key is provided for the recognition of the species found in the country, and also descriptions, iconographies, common names, geographical distribution and comments on the diagnostic characters of the species.
