La definición de la Beturia según M. R. Martínez

La definición de la Beturia según M. R. Martínez

Abstract

[EN]: In these lines our intention is to present one of the first rigorous studies about the Beturia, developed during the last third of the 19th century, carried out by M. R. Martínez, as well as some isolated essays from the beginning of the 20th century. The research of this author meant a qualitative step forward in the historical interpretation of Extremadura, distancing his studies from myths, legends, and glorious origins. Most of the information presented in this paper belongs to the article Nertóbriga Beturiense, published in different numbers of the journal El Eco de Fregenal in the year 1882, as well as in a series of essays that appear in the Revista de Extremadura between 1900 and 1904.
