[ES]La autora analiza algunos tipos de hagiografías femeninas en las que abundan los casos de mujeres que lograron la santidad tras ser torturadas hasta la muerte en defensa de su virginidad y también las de otras que después de haber ejercido la prostitución se encaminan por el ascetismo y el sacrificio. Las santas con su comportamiento no sólo se alejan de la cultura sino también en ocasiones de la naturaleza humana al subvertir uno de los patrones culturales que garantiza la continuidad de la especie y del sistema social.

[EN]The author discusses some types of female hagiographies in which there are many cases of women who achieved sainthood after being tortured to death in defense of her virginity. She also studied other prostitutes who achieved holiness through repentance and asceticism. These saints female with their behavior not only violate cultural norms, also sometimes they move away from human nature by subvert a pattern that guarantees the continuity of the species and social system.
