Estatus y distribución del Paíño común (Hydrobates pelagicus) en las Islas Canarias

Abstract

El presente trabajo ha sido realizado mediante un proyecto de investigación financiado por la Dirección General del Medio Ambiente y Conservación de la Naturaleza del Gobierno de Canarias destinado al estudio del estatus y distribución de las aves marinas nidificantes en el Archiìélago con vistas a su conservación. Asimismo, quisiéramos hacer extensiva nuestra gratitud a D. Alfonso Quintero por su inestimable ayuda en la isla de El Hierro, y al Dr. Bernard Zonfrillo por la lectura y críticva del manuscrito original.

El Paíño Común (Hydrobates pelagicus) se encuentra distribuido en el Atlántico nororiental, desde las Islas Lofoten (Norte de Noruega), sur de Islandia, Gran Bretaña, oeste de Francia, costa norte de la Península Ibérica, Mediterráneo e Islas Canarias; constituyendo este archipiélago el límite meridional de cría (CRAMP y SIMMONS 1977, LE GRANDF et al. 1984)
