Lagarto, revista literaria de 1945

Abstract

[EN] This article deals with a cultural review that came out in Jaén in the year 1945, and of which only threenumbers were published. The editors, that were members of the intellectual elite of the city in that period, were moved by literary and pedagogic concerns. Added to their liking for literature and art, was their knowledgeof the low cultural level of their countrymen, something that they tried to improve with this publication. In itcan be distinguished three types of articles: those of literary creation, artistic and literary criticism, and localcustoms and manners. The quality of the review, that abstained from making politic observations, was morethan remarkable, but they might close because of subscribers absence and lack of sales, since they could notconnect with the taste of general public.
