Geometría y edad del anticlinal fallado de Cerro Salinas

Abstract

En el límite entre la Precordillera Central al W y la Precordillera Oriental y Sierras Pampeanas al E se forma una estructura triangular constituida por cabalgamientos de vergencia opuesta y geometría profunda poco conocida (Figueroa and Ferraris, 1989; Ramos et al., 1997). Esta estructura profunda se manifiesta, en algunos sectores, mediante la deformación superficial de los sedimentos aluviales y fluviales cuaternarios como en el caso de la estructura geomórfica de Cerro Salinas. Este trabajo presenta los resultados parciales de un proyecto CSIC-CONICET sobre la estructura cortical del frente andino entre las ciudades de San Juan y Mendoza en Argentina. La integración de datos de campo y datos sísmicos obtenidos en Repsol-YPF permite definir la geometría tridimensional de la región de Cerro Salinas, al S de la latitud 32º, estudiada con anterioridad por Cominguez and Ramos (1991).
