The present invention relates to a series of substituted purine derivatives capable of inhibiting Cdc7 kinase activity and, as such, suitable for use in the treatment of neurological diseases such as, inter alia, Alzheimer's disease, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis or frontotemporal dementia, involving hyperphosphorylation of TDP-43 and the subsequent formation of clusters, induced by Cdc7.
