Abstract

En este trabajo se estudia la evolución del fraccionamiento isotópico del sistema CO2(gas) - C02(aq), HC03-, CO32- a 25° C, en sistema abierto, mediante el seguimiento del factor Δg_DIC entre las distintas especies carbonatadas en solución, C02(g) en solución y carbono total en solución (DIC), en función del tiempo. Una solución de NaHC03 (0,5 M, 600 mL) se ha saturado en CO2(gas) por adición de HCl siguiendo dos procedimientos que permiten distinta interacción del sistema con el exterior. Se ha seguido el comportamiento químico e isotópico del sistema una vez acabado el proceso de acidificación, para evaluar el tiempo que tarda la solución en alcanzar equilibrio isotópico. Se observa que si la solución se desgasifica lentamente, el pH no se estabiliza y se producen fuertes variaciones en el factor Δ. Sin embargo, si la desgasificación es brusca y no se facilita por otros medios (agitación), se consigue mayor estabilidad en el valor del pH y el factor Δ se mantiene prácticamente contante a lo largo del tiempo. El equilibrio isotópico se alcanza a los 75 minutos. Los valores de Δ13Cg-DIC oscilan entre -9,0 ± 0,1 y -10,8 ± 0,2 y Δ18Cg-DIC entre 2,0 ± 0,2 y 3,33 ± 0,17, dependiendo del procedimiento empleado.
