Abstract

[EN] In 2007 is commemorated the 100th and 25th anniversary of Josep Renau’s birth and death (Valencia 1907-Berlin 1982). Throughout several exhibitions it has been shown the artist’s production in the fields of poster making, advertising and political photomontage. Also this has been the occasion to emphasize his role as cultural manager in the Dirección General de Bellas Artes during the Spanish Civil War. This paper analyses the relevance of these 2007 exhibitions, focusing in his negotiations with Picasso and the commission of Guernica. Regarding the latter he wrote the unpublished book Albures y cuitas con el “Guernica” y su madre, which is studied and partially reproduced here.
