Abstract

[EN] As researchers of the Iberian societies, we tend to assume that the generalization of the use of iron led to major changes in the economic organization and in the political and social structure of the Second Iron Age. Hence, we link this widespread use of iron with social compexity, even though the processes that led to this widespread use of iron, its impact on the optimization of the means of production, as well as the potential diversity of technological processes, the minerals exploited, or the innovations involved in the processes, are still largely unknown. This article present the first set of archaeological data and analytics of materials coming from the upper basin of the Segura river, and provides a case of study for the peninsular mainland as a comparative framework for other areas of southeastern peninsula, which became a convergence region for very diverse mediterranean populations and technologies.
