Interrelación flora-fauna en las Islas Canarias

Abstract

Las interacciones planta-animal han adquirido una importancia muy destacada, a nivel mundial, en numerosos estudios ecológicos desarrollados en los últimos años (HOWE & WESTLEY, 1988). No obstante, los trabajos realizados sobre este fenómeno en Canarias son muy escasos. Una elevada proporción de la diversidad biológica que existe en el planeta se ha originado y ha podido subsistir gracias a este tipo de interacciones (FENNER, 1992). En general, y como fenómenos naturales interactivos, estas relaciones vegetal-animal incluyen tres aspectos básicos: la herbivoría, la polinización de las flores y la dispersión de las semillas.
