[EN] In this work we study the evolution of the macro and microelements (Fe, Mn, Cu and Zn) content in the complete alfalfa plant during three years of development cultivated on terrace soil with irrigation (vega del Gallego). The consecutive cuttings always took place at the beginning of the flowering period. The content of these elements in alfalfa has been estimated taking into account the values of the leaf-stem ratio and the partial contens of each of these morphological constituents. The results are expressed in percentage or p.p.m. of dry matter, noticing a slight tendency of the calcium content to disminish while the other mineral elements are either stable or show a tendency to increase. The average annual content of nitrogen, phosphorus and calcium is found in the deficiency area, and as far as the microelements are concerned, only Mn may present a problem of deficiency. The alfalfa composition is discussed in relation to the animals nutritional needs. The phosphorus, magnesium and zinc content do not fulfill the stated needs.
