En 2019 se cumplieron dos décadas desde la puesta en marcha de la contratación en origen, un instrumento diseñado para permitir contratar contingentes de trabajadores en el extranjero y así superar los problemas de falta de mano de obra en parte del campo español. Con el objetivo de contribuir al debate sobre cómo encarar su futuro desarrollo, este artículo hace un repaso a la evolución de este mecanismo, señalando sus aciertos y errores e identificando las fases que ha atravesado, así como las dinámicas que han influido en su funcionamiento.
In 2019, it was two decades since the implementation of recruitment at origin, an instrument designed to allow the recruitment of contingents of workers abroad and thus overcome the problems of labour shortage in part of the Spanish countryside. With the aim of contributing to the debate on how to tackle its future development, this article reviews the evolution of this mechanism, pointing out its successes and errors and identifying the phases it has gone through, as well as the dynamics that have influenced its operation.
