Abstract

[EN] A breeding program of peach varieties [Prunus persica (L.) Basch] adapted to the Ebro Middle Valley is developed at the Aula Dei Experimental Station (CSIC). Within the framework of this program, different agronomic traits as flowering and ripening season, as well as yield and cumulative production, have been evaluated in 15 peach and nectarine populations. These populations come from controlled crosses made among different varieties during 2000 and 2001. A big variability has been found either in the flowering and ripening season or in the production, among the different evaluated populations. Moreover, regarding the ripening season, a big variability has also been found among the different seedlings belonging to the same cross. This variability will allow th selection of varieties according to the time availability on the market. Each population showed a different requirement of days between flowering and fruit ripening, consistent in the two consecutive years.
