Abstract

Si estudia o trabaja en arqueología, antropología, historia, arquitectura o una disciplina relacionada, es muy probable que a menudo tenga que realizar tareas de modelado de información como parte de su trabajo. Los principios y técnicas necesarias para esto rara vez se estudian como parte de la formación en campos relativos al patrimonio cultural, porque tradicionalmente han pertenecido a la ingeniería de software o del conocimiento. Sin embargo, la necesidad de modelar información en patrimonio cultural (y especialmente en arqueología y antropología) está aumentando, debido al auge de las humanidades digitales y la creciente necesidad de gestionar conjuntos de datos grandes y heterogéneos. Este libro intenta transmitir principios y técnicas complejas, que tradicionalmente se enseñan como parte de la ingeniería de software, a especialistas en patrimonio cultural, sin asumir ninguna experiencia previa. El principal objetivo del libro es mostrar estas técnicas y principios de modo asequible, para que los especialistas en patrimonio cultural puedan usar el conocimiento adquirido sin necesidad de realizar un curso formal en ingeniería de software. La audiencia principal del libro son profesores y estudiantes (tanto de grado como de posgrado) en cualquier área relacionada con el patrimonio cultural, incluyendo arqueología, antropología, arte, historia, arquitectura o literatura. Además, el libro puede ser útil a otros especialistas en patrimonio cultural no necesariamente vinculados al mundo de la educación, como gestores del patrimonio, investigadores o profesionales. Si diseña bases de datos o sistemas de registro, es responsable de la gestión de datos, o en general le interesa la conceptualización del patrimonio cultural, entonces este libro es para usted.
