Abstract

[EN] Among the different variables that influence the making of a ceramic product acquisition and selection of raw materials and their preparation are some of the most important. This contribution presents the results derived from an archaeometric study carried out to determine the clay sediments and the non-plastic materials possibly used in the making of the pottery recipients coming from three Iron Age archaeological sites: Los Castros de Lastra, La Hoya y Santiagomendi. A representative set of raw materials obtained in the surroundings of these three sites was prepared and fired in the laboratory following the same sequence of production than that determined for the archaeological ceramic materials. The study has been useful to experimentally determine the type of clays and non-plastic materials used by the Iron Age communities who inhabited these settlements to make its pottery, as well as the technology employed to produce it
