Abstract

La creación en España de una nueva gran compañía pesquera, PESCANOVA, representó para nuestro país un notable esfuerzo de expansión de nuestra industria pesquera. Efectivamente, todos los esfuerzos pesqueros realizados desde hacía mucho tiempo quedaban reducidos a la explotación de las plataformas litorales, por una parte, y, como máxima expansión, a la pesca del bacalao y del eglefino en los bancos del Atlántico noroeste. Otras pesquerías, como por ejemplo las del Gran Sol y las de los alrededores del archipiélago canario y costa del Sahara, son relativamente recientes.
