Abstract

La obra de Joseph Ruiz Samaniego representa, en el contexto de la música zaragozana del siglo XVII, el comienzo de una corriente de renovación formal en la que han de incluirse también Diego Jaraba, Gaspar Sanz, los Cáseda y el propio Sebastián Durón, que se inició como organista en La Seo zaragozana, bajo la tutela de Andrés de Sola. Esta renovación se manifiesta en la yuxtaposición de usos convencionales en la composición polifónica y policoral, dentro de la tradición española de mediados del siglo XVII, junto a elementos que podríamos denominar progresivos o modemos, como el uso afectivo de la disonancia o ciertas combinaciones vocales e instrumentales. Este modo de componer, evidenciado por una interpretación elocuente, provoca singulares momentos de sorpresa en la escucha, lo que constituye un elemento sustancial de la estética que comunmente llamamos barroca. Para esta edición, se ha decidido mantener la notación original en sus puntos principales, reduciendo la intervención del editor a lo estrictamente necesario para facilitar la comprensión del discurso musical.
