Abstract

¿Quién era Kropotkin? La biografía del llamado príncipe anarquistas nacido en 1842 y muerto en 1921 combina a partes iguales el logro intelectual y científico, la actividad revolucionaria, y el aura romántica. Kropotkin fue en gran medida un fenómeno global. Lo fue en sí mismo: hablamos de un ruso que hablaba francés, inglés, alemán y muy probablemente algo de sueco, que se movió desde Siberia hasta los suburbios de Londres, pasando por Francia o Suiza. Lo fuesu particular darwinismo. No se puede entender a Kropotkin sin Kessler, pero tampoco sin Spencer, los neolamarckianos franceses o la particular lectura que desarrolló del darwinismo el filósofo vitalista Guyau. Pero la difusión de sus teorías, o mejor dicho, la apropiación de éstas por parte de actores políticos diversos fue un fenómeno igualmente global. A Kropotkin lo leían hacían algunos profesores represaliados en Japón, y su teoría del apoyo mutuo dejó una impronta indeleble en el fundador del Independent Labour Party, Keir Hardie.
